Tenets of FaithWhat We Believe

The Word of GodThe Bible (both the Old and New Testaments) is the inspired Word of God.  It reveals the will of God and his plan for all Christian faith and life.  (2 Tim. 3:16; 1 Thess. 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21)

The GodheadOne God, Creator of all things, who is perfect and eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

(Philippians 2:6)

Man, His Fall and RedemptionMan is a created being made in the likeness and image of God.  Through Adam’s disobedience and fall, sin came into the world.  Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil.  He gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God.  (Romans 5:12-15; Romans 3:10; Romans 3:23; 1 John 3:8). Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made obtainable only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, which makes us acceptable to God.  (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Eternal Life and the New Birth Because of Adam’s fall, people were spiritually separated from God. Jesus came to the earth, lived a perfect life and took the punishment for our sins upon Himself.  Now our spirit must be born again. (John 3:3-5) This is done by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth, that Jesus has taken our place (Romans 10:9-10).  Accepting Jesus is the only way to eternal life in heaven.

(2 Corinthians 7:10; 1 John 5:12)

Water Baptism– Baptism in water is by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only, meaning its done after salvation.  This is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12; Acts 8:36-39)

Baptism in the Holy SpiritThe Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received after a person gets born again.  This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance.  (Matthew 3:11; John 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38,39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:4)

Work of the SpiritThe Holy Spirit is active in the lives of believers today. He is our comforter, teacher, (John 14:26), our guide (John 16:13), and is always available as a source of help to the believer. The gifts of the Spirit as seen in 1 Corinthians 12 are active in the body of Christ today. (Romans 8:14, Galatians 5:25)

SanctificationSanctification is the process of being set apart from the world, to be able to be a light to the world.  Our spirit is born again at the time of salvation, but our mind has to be renewed day by day to the truth of the Word. (Romans 12:2)  This is a progressive work in the life of the believer, as we learn to identify ourselves based on our new life in Christ. (Hebrews 12:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Peter 3:18; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Philippians 3:12-14; 1 Corinthians 1:30)

The Reality of Heaven & HellThe one who physically dies in his sins without accepting Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the lake of fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the gospel or repenting.  The lake of fire is literal.  The terms “eternal” and “everlasting” used in describing the duration of punishment of the damned in the lake of fire carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in denoting the duration of joy and ecstasy of the saints in the presence of God. (Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 19:20)

Resurrection of Believers and Return of the Lord

The angels said to Jesus’ disciples, “…This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”  His coming is imminent.  When He comes, “… Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…(Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17) Following the Tribulation, He shall return to earth as King of kings and Lord of lords and together with His saints who will be kings and priests, He shall reign a thousand years. (Revelation 20:6)

Divine HealingHealing is for the physical pains & sicknesses of the human body and is made available by the power of God through the prayer of faith and by the laying on of hands as well as other scriptural practices.  Healing is provided by the atonement of Christ and is the privilege of every person who is born again.  (Mark 16:18; James 5:14, 25; 1 Peter 2:24; Matthew 8:17;

Isaiah 53:4,5)
